Funding a well for deceased parents: a sadaqa jariya that keeps flowing

Giving clean water in the name of a father or mother who is no longer here turns grief into something that lasts. Here is how a concrete sadaqa jariya for parents works, with wells actually built and documented.

A group holds the well's identification sign

When a parent passes away, we often look for a gesture that outlives them. Many families turn to sadaqa jariya for their parents: an act whose benefit keeps reaching the deceased after death. Clean water is one of these, because every person who drinks from a well built in a father's or mother's name extends, day after day, the memory of that parent.

Goutte d'Espoir is a company that funds and builds clean-water wells for families and villages that lack them. When you place an order, you are buying a construction and monitoring service: we handle the site from scouting to commissioning, then we hand you the proof. Nothing is left to chance, and nothing is promised that we cannot show.

Why water is a fitting way to honour someone who has passed

Water affects everyone, every day. A single water point serves about 40 people daily and can benefit close to 400 people over time. Where there was only a muddy pond or a walk of several hours, a hand pump changes the life of an entire village: fewer illnesses, children going to school instead of carrying water, women getting hours back each day.

Dedicating this water point to a parent means writing their name into the daily life of people who never knew them but who, every morning, draw clean water thanks to them. It is a quiet, useful and lasting tribute, far removed from an object that fades.

How it works, concretely

You choose a country, you pay for the service, and we start the site work. The price covers scouting the village, permits, drilling, the concrete slab with its drainage channels, the installation of a hand pump, commissioning, and photo and video documentation. On delivery, a plaque is placed with the name you chose, that of your parent, or anonymously if you prefer.

  • Uganda: 350 EUR, with a lead time of 3 to 5 weeks. It is the country where we build the most, so the fastest and most accessible.
  • India: 365 EUR, lead time of 4 to 6 months.
  • Sri Lanka: 370 EUR, lead time of 4 to 6 months.
  • Cambodia: 400 EUR, lead time of 4 to 6 months.
  • Niger: 1050 EUR, lead time of 4 to 6 months.
  • Togo: 1100 EUR, lead time of 4 to 6 months.

The proof you receive

When the site work is finished, we send you photos and videos of the completed water point, with the plaque bearing the chosen name. You see the real structure, in its real location, handed over to a real community. This traceability is at the heart of our work: you know exactly where your money goes and what it produces.

You cannot replace a parent. But you can make clean water flow in their name, and let that good benefit others for a long time.

If you carry the memory of a father, a mother or a loved one and are looking for a gesture that lasts, funding a well in Uganda from 350 EUR is a concrete starting point. Choose the country, tell us the name to engrave, and we take care of the rest, proof included. Get in touch to start a well in your parent's name.
